iPhone - more than 50k different applications available now!

Perhaps Apple should start thinking of a new name for its iPhone. With more than 50,000 different applications now available for the company’s genresmashing device, actually making phone calls is only a tiny part of what iPhone users do with their handy little gizmos.

The latest version is the iPhone 3GS which has video recording for the first time besides other cool applications. And with more applications being invented every day, and the latest version offering far more power, durability and convenience than its predecessors, it might just be a matter of time before the iPhone starts making other specialized devices entirely obsolete. Take GPS navigation systems for example. These marvels of technology can magically tell you where you are and how to get to where you want to be.

Nokia is expanding its twist handset design, first seen on the 3250, by introducing the new 5700 XpressMusic S60 smartphone. The Nokia 5700 has a strong focus on music, and even has a dedicated audio chip to help your tracks sound that little bit better.The three modes of the 5700 – music player, camera, and videophone – can be accessed by twisting the lower portion of the handset.

Music is the main draw for the Nokia 5700, and users can store all their tunes on microSD cards up to 2GB, and can listen to them through Bluetooth stereo headphones or regular headphones with the bundled 3.5mm headphone adapter. The 5700 is compatible with WMA, MP3, AAC, and eAAC+ audio, and users can even load it with DRM protected WMA files.On the imaging front, the Nokia 5700 sports a 2.0 megapixel camera, while data is taken care of with UMTS high-speed connectivity. HP iPAQ 510

Majority of smartphones may be bulky, but for the HP iPAQ 510 it just look like a regular-sized candy bar phone. The HP iPAQ 510 vVoice Messenger is powered by Windows Mobile 6.

The phone comes with 128MB of internal memory and 64MB RAM as well as a 1.3 megapixel camera. The quad-band phone also has voice command functions, which can be used for a variety of things including opening applications and playing music.

According to HP, the phone allows you to view your e-mail messages in their original HTML format and you can simple click on a link or directly dial a phone number from the e-mail message if you want to.

Wireless surfing and exchanging of files can also be done as the HP iPAQ 510 comes with integrated WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The only thing that’s missing is 3G support.

The HP iPAQ 510 is scheduled to be available next month. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
